KUMHO TO LAUNCH NEW AT52 ALL TERRAIN FOR THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS

Kumho Tyre is preparing to launch an all new version of its Road Venture All Terrain tyre to meet the increasing demand for better tyre performance in the fastest growing sectors of the automotive market, including utes, SUVs and 4x4s.

The AT52 will arrive in Australia in early 2022 and is the direct replacement for Kumho’s popular top selling AT51 tyre, which has won admiration from Ute, SUV and 4×4 users over  the past decade.

Kumho’s new Road Venture AT52 will blend a combination of on road comfort and performance, with  rugged durability and traction in a range of loose surface terrains.

According to Kumho Tyre Australia, national marketing manager, Kenny Chun, the AT52 will offer Ute, SUV and 4×4 owners the ideal all round performance tyre capable of delivering excellent performance every day driving to work, with the ability to take them off roads on weekends.

“The AT52  has a lot of innovative Kumho design features to deliver premium performance, durability and comfort in a range of conditions for 4×4 and SUV drivers,” said Kenny Chun.

“With the performance of vehicles in this sector getting better and better all the time, they demand tyres that can match their capabilities and to take drivers to where they want to go,” he said.

“Kumho engineers started with a clean sheet of paper and  the AT52 is the result of the latest tyre technologies and innovation to optimise performance on and off road,” he said.

The new tyre boasts a range of innovative Kumho design and technology features, using a chip resistant compound moulded into an asymmetric tread pattern to resist irregular wear

The AT52 uses new rugged shoulder blocks with saw-tooth edges, for better off-road traction, along with multi-angle sipes and zig-zag grooves to enhance traction and  performance on a wide range of surfaces.

The main part of the tread uses a five pitch variation to provide  better comfort and lower road noise as well as a balanced void ratio for both  better on road performance and off road traction, while the centre has been designed with interlocking tread blocks for enhanced durability and tread life, with rigid centre blocks for improved handling and straight-line stability.

The AT52’s deep lateral grooves help provide better ‘clawing’ action which is needed for finding grip in loose terrain and on slippery surfaces including snow, while its wide sub-lateral grooves have been designed for enhanced wet road traction and more confident off road traction

Multi angle sipes have been used to further enhance wet weather performance along with aggressive ‘side biters’ for added puncture protection.

Durability was a key design criteria for Kumho engineers with the new AT52 and has resulted in a  robust belt package and a reinforced carcass.

The belt package also enhances high speed stability and performance along with the newly designed high tensile steel belt and cap ply which stabilises and support a balanced footprint for the tyre on the road

Kumho engineers have formulated an optimal polymer blend for better resistance to cracking, chipping and tearing and for improved wear as well as a complex carbon black compound to enhance tread wear performance.

Kumho tyres are supplied as original equipment on some of the world’s most  advanced automobiles including BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Chrysler, GM, Ford, Hyundai, Kia and Nissan to name a few.

Kumho is one of the world’s largest tyre manufacturers, with more than 60 years of history, immersed in innovative approaches to product development, market expansion, technical progress, and environmental awareness, with a dedication to providing optimal service and delivering an exceptional driving experience to our customers around the world.
